Transformation of Reading Blue Coat School’s Sports Facility’s Car Park
The transformation of Reading Bluecoat School’s sports ground car park has revolutionised the experience for both students and parents, with the car park upgrade enhancing not only the aesthetics but also the functionality of their outdoor space.
The project is part of the school’s wider strategy to improve their facilities and the transformation of the car park will also create more space for vehicles on site, as well as improving access to the sports ground.
Slatter Estates Surfaces were invited to tender for the supply and installation of the new car park in the school grounds, and were subsequently awarded the works, advising that the new layout and design will make the most of the available space and create a much more user-friendly environment.
The project was completed in two phases, with the first phase involving the construction of a new concrete base for the car park. This was followed by the second phase, which saw the installation of new tarmac surfaces and lighting.
The transformation of the car park has had a positive impact on the school’s operations, as it is now able to accommodate up to 100 vehicles. This has made it much easier for staff and visitors to access the school grounds, and has also freed up space on the school’s main site for other uses.
The improved car park has also had a positive effect on the appearance of the school grounds. The new tarmac surface and lighting have given the area a much more modern and elite look, which is in keeping with the high standards that Reading Bluecoat School strives to maintain.
Now, a much larger space for students to park their cars, reducing congestion around the school, the car park has also been designed to provide access to all users, with large bays for disabled access, coach parking and infrastructure to support electric charging points.
Not only has it improved the aesthetics of the area, but it has also provided a much safer and more accessible parking space for students, parents, staff and visitors.
